check.jpg  Access online and local resources instantly
To enable you to compare sequences with a wide range of databases, KoriBlast features direct access to numerous Blast systems, and associated databanks, available online (NCBI, EBI) and locally (intranet, local computer). More.

With KoriBlast you can forget the endless copying/pasting of sequences and manual database queries required by web interfaces. You will waste a lot less time on these tedious tasks and be able to concentrate on your research work.

Whether you have one or a thousand sequences to analyse, KoriBlast will help you. When you schedule a search job, you effectively have the possibility of supplying your sequence probes in batches. These may come from sequence files or they may be obtained by direct queries to NCBI servers.

KoriBlast can automatically retrieve the known sequence data from remote databases, such as: descriptions, annotations (i.e. features), taxonomic data and cross-references (PubMed, KEGG, GO, InterPro, Enzyme, etc). While this information is retrieved manually using a traditional web interface, it is now retrieved automatically and in a very elegant way by KoriBlast. For each database sequence, only the data located in the alignment zones is retrieved. This system provides a major advantage when comparing your sequences with genomes for example. Instead of retrieving all the annotations for all the genomes with which your sequences are aligned, KoriBlast will only deliver information located in the alignment zones. The volume of information to analyse is thus considerably reduced whilst being more pertinent.

check.jpg  Schedule batch search jobs quickly

The KoriBlast interface has been specially designed to enable you to schedule multiple search job quickly. Whatever the number of sequences you have to analyse, all searches will be conducted automatically by KoriBlast. When submitting your sequences, get a general overview of the search job progress as well as result summaries.

When working with public resources (NCBI and EBI), Koriblast will respect their recommendations by spreading searches regularly over time. However, if you are working locally, KoriBlast will run just-in-time searches, using your computing resources to the best of their capacities.

KoriBlast enables you to query directly the major sequence/structure databanks managed at the NCBI. This way you can easily get sequences of interest to prepare a new search job, as well as downloading in batch mode sets of sequences to prepare a local Blast databank.

check.jpg  Filter your data and design search strategies

The filtering of results is a very powerful means of reducing the mass of information to analyse. This system simply enables you to retain from the search results only those hits that meet your selection criteria. These criteria apply to values calculated by Blast (scores, sequence similarities, alignment coordinates, etc.) and to data from databases (sequence descriptions, annotations and taxonomic data). Read this to view an example of using filters in the context of a comparative genomics study.

"Blast execution + data retrieval + data filtering": our solution to enable you to analyze only data relevant to your research. KoriBlast will help you to design powerful search strategies combining sequence comparison, retrieval of known data from databanks and filtering of results - all in a few clicks of the mouse:
