| Controlling the Job Scheduler |
|
The Job Scheduler is the KoriBlast's component responsible for running your search jobs. It is hidden within KoriBlast, however you can have a look on it: within the Job Scheduler panel contained in the right side of the Search module of KoriBlast. The Job Scheduler is controlled by up to three timers responsible for sending queries to a search system (NCBI, EBI, WWWBlast, LocalBlast, etc), then retrieving the results over time. The first timer controls the frequency used by KoriBlast to start the execution of a search job. The second timer is used for each single sequence query: it controls the time frequency used by KoriBlast to send a sequence to a Blast System. The third timer is only used for network-based Blast systems to control the time frequency used by KoriBlast to ask a Blast system for the results. All the timer values can be modified using the Preferences dialogue box, available from the Edit menu of KoriBlast. On the left side of the box, you can see the following sections: - Blast Scheduler: go there to update the time frequency used by KoriBlast to check if it can start the execution of a search job. As a reminder, the Blast Scheduler panel contains the list of your search jobs, all of them having an execution status: done, running, waiting or error. The timer we are talking about here is the one used by KoriBlast to pick up a 'waiting' job from that list and starts its execution. - Blast Connectors. There are several ones: NCBI, EBI, WWWBlast and Local. Each Blast Connector section gives you the possibility to update the timers used by KoriBlast to send a sequence to a Blast System (Submit timer), then request the results (Query timer). For some Blast systems (NCBI for example), you can see a 'Timeout' value: this is the time limit used by KoriBlast to query a Blast system for the results. Please note that timers used for NCBI and EBI search systems cannot be set to values below the recommandations of these Institutes.
