Installing KoriBlast on Windows

Important notice: please, be aware that you must have administrative rights on your computer to proceed to the installation of KoriBlast. On Windows XP/Vista/Seven-Pro, both an administrator or a power user is fine. On Windows XP-Home/Vista-Home, only the administrator can install KoriBlast (if there is a single user on your XP/Vista/Seven-Home box, then that user is the administrator). Vista/Seven users may also read the notice located at the end of this article.

If you are about to install the commercial version of KoriBlast to replace an evaluation version, you do not need to uninstall the trial version. However, be sure to install the new version within the directory where the evaluation version is located; by default, this directory should be C:\Program Files\KoriBlast (see step 2, below).

Step 1. Becoming root.

Open an administrator session on your computer, if it is not still done.

Step 2. Starting KoriBlast Installer.

Open the Windows File Explorer, then go into the directory where you saved the KoriBlast installation wizard. Double-click on the wizard icon, then follow the instructions. By default, KoriBlast will be installed in the directory c:\Program Files\KoriBlast.

Step 3. Installing the License Certificate.

A License Certificate (Evaluation, Single User or Concurrent) has been sent to you by email. You have to install that certificate by starting KoriBlast as the administrator.

Starting KoriBlast

As an administrator, start KoriBlast: it is available from the Program Files list located under the Start button.

When you start KoriBlast for the first time, its License Manager automatically asks you for the License Certificate. Follow the instructions of the wizard to complete the installation of KoriBlast.

After installing a License Certificate, KoriBlast can be run by a user other than the administrator.

Admin rights: Special notice for Vista/Seven users. Starting with the new Vista system, Microsoft engineers have enforced the security, which is a good idea. As a consequence, the administrative rights associated to the main user account does not provide him/her with the complete set of rights of a real administrator. More precisely, if you are the only user on your Windows box, you can think that you have all the rights to do what you want on your computer... starting with Vista, this is not completely true. Some operations can be blocked by the new UAC system (User Account Control). Concerning KoriBlast, the UAC may prevent the installation of the KoriBlast License Certificate.

During the first start of KoriBlast, if you get a dialogue box saying that you are not the administrator, it means you will have to disable temporarily the UAC. By doing this, we ensure you that there is absolutely no security breach in your system if you follow this procedure:

Open the Windows Configuration Panel (Start Menu->Configuration Panel), and switch to the Classic View (on the left side of the Configuration panel, there is the option Classic View). Double click on the User Accounts icon, select Turn User Account Control on or off. This takes you to another window, where you simply untick the checkbox to disable UAC. Hit OK and then reboot.

After the reboot, start KoriBlast and install the License Certificate. Exit from KoriBlast, then enable again the UAC (see previous step) to restore the standard security policy of your Windows box.
